RaceChip: Intelligent chip box

Our RaceChip module, often called tuning box, chip tuner, or speed box, is an additional plug in electronic device (additional control device) which you can install and remove on your own.

It’s an easy principle: The motors of modern vehicles are controlled and monitored by a computer.

Our RaceChip chip tuner changes the motor management in real time with its digital operating mode (the characteristic fields are optimised up to 100000 times per second). In so doing, a considerable power increase can be achieved.

With the same driving behaviour, the service life of your motor and of the other stressed parts remains the same as under factory condition.

The advantages are obvious:

• Real time increase of performance with continuous adaptation of the characteristic fields (up to 100000 times per second)
• Easy installation and removal by you
• It’s not necessary to carry out software or mechanical changes on the vehicle, the RaceChip is just pugged in between
• After removal the serial condition of your car can easily and quickly be restored
• Normally, our RaceChip chip tuner cannot be traced after removal, thus the vehicle manufacturer's warranty is maintained.
• The emergency program (motor protection program) is maintained, too. There’s therefore no risk of overstressing the motor
• You can increase or decrease the performance of the RaceChip on your own. You can choose between „maximum performance“, „price-conscious economic tuning“ or a „reasonable mixture „of both
• Due to the digital operating mode you may use your RaceChip for almost all other common-rail vehicles, all you need is an additional cable harness. We offer these at a fair price, of course.

• If your car is equipped with a maximum speed limitation (V-Max), this will not be deleted

Chip tuning by manipulation of software

Chiptuning via intervention in the original software of the vehicle manufacturer…

…the original motor control device is frequently opened by using a flex in order to get through to the software

With OBD-tuning, the original software is read from the motor control device of the vehicle via the diagnostics interface, then changed by means of suitable computer programmes, and again written to the motor control device. With other frequently applied methods, the motor control device, often unknown by the customer, is opened to desolder the original chip and to replace it with a tuning chip.

The advantages are the following:

• It is possible to remove the V-Max (maximum speed limitation)
• Under certain circumstances the performance can be increased more than with a tuning box

The disadvantages are the following:

• The customer cannot influence the tuning; in case of change you have to see your tuning specialist.
• Oftentimes the vehicle with the tuning software is no longer diagnostic-capable (error messages are received when being serviced in the shop).
• It the tuning specialist does not know exactly which performance parameters should be changed in the vehicle software, there is the risk that the motor will be damaged. Because the tuning version of the software usually turns off the emergency programme (which protects the engine from overstress), damaged is not detected in advance.
• Chip tuning can often be detected by the vehicle manufacturer. Because of this you void your normal vehicle warranty.
• The tuning software cannot be adapted for another vehicle, such as when you sell your car.
